Meet the New Cut’n’Paste Plus+® Picloram Plus Weed Gel – The Ultimate Tag Team for Stubborn Weeds

Anyone who has battled stubborn gorse, invasive blackberry, and relentless thistles knows the frustration… sometimes it feels like you need a whole arsenal of different products to keep on top of the variety of invasive tough weeds. What if you could have one powerful, targeted solution for both woody invaders and difficult broadleaf weeds?
Well, now you can ! We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new and improved Cut’n’Paste Plus+® Picloram Plus Weed Gel! We’ve taken our trusted formula and supercharged it to create a powerful selective herbicide gel that gives you more effective and long-lasting results on an even broader range of problem plants.
The secret behind our new Cut’n’Paste Plus+® Picloram Plus Weed Gel
… is a powerful combination of two active ingredients: Picloram (as the potassium salt) and Aminopyralid (as the triisopropanolamine salt).
While both belong to the same family of ‘synthetic auxin’ herbicides, they target weeds in different ways. When combined, they create a synergistic effect that is more potent than either ingredient on its own.
- Picloram: This is the heavy hitter for deep-rooted and woody plants. It’s highly effective on tough species like gorse, broom, and blackberry, and its persistence in the soil helps prevent regrowth.
- Aminopyralid: Think of this as the specialist that sharpens the attack. It is incredibly effective at very low rates on broadleaf weeds like thistles, ragwort, and docks. It moves efficiently through the plant to the roots and growing points, ensuring a comprehensive kill.
By combining them, we’ve created a gel that offers a broader spectrum of control, a more reliable kill rate, and a balanced soil residue profile. The Aminopyralid boosts the overall effect, improving the uptake and movement of the herbicide in many species, making our original formula even better.
What Does This Mean For Your Weeds?
The old Picloram gel was great for woody weeds but could be less effective on certain broadleaf pests. By adding Aminopyralid, the new Cut’n’Paste Plus+® Picloram Plus Weed Gel can now handle both woody scrub and tough broadleaf weeds in a single application.
This makes it an incredibly versatile tool for stump treatments and spot applications, especially in pasture, lifestyle blocks, and conservation areas where you might be dealing with mixed infestations.
Weeds where Aminopyralid dramatically strengthens control:
- Thistles (Scotch, nodding, winged, Californian)
- Ragwort
- Docks (broad-leaved and curled)
- Clover, lucerne, and other legumes
Woody weeds where the combo improves the kill rate:
- Gorse & Broom
- Blackberry
- Wattles & Acacias
- Wild Roses, Privet & Hawthorn
Check out how the new formula stacks up:
| Weed / Group | Picloram Alone | Picloram + Aminopyralid | Residual Notes |
| Gorse | Strong | Stronger, more consistent | Picloram persists for seedlings; aminopyralid improves kill of established plants |
| Broom | Strong | Stronger | Residuals prevent regrowth from root crowns |
| Blackberry | Moderate–good | Good–very good | Picloram residual + aminopyralid uptake into suckers improves long-term kill |
| Wattles | Moderate | Good | Aminopyralid improves systemic kill |
| Privet, hawthorn, wild roses | Moderate | Good | Better basal/root collar kill |
| Ragwort | Poor–moderate | Excellent | Aminopyralid works fast; picloram’s residual prevents reinfestation |
| Thistles | Poor | Excellent | Aminopyralid translocates well; residuals suppress new germinations |
| Docks | Poor–patchy | Good | Picloram residual + aminopyralid taproot activity combine |
| General woody weeds | Good | Excellent | Broader coverage, longer persistence |
| Broadleaf pasture weeds | Limited | Broad spectrum | Aminopyralid adds spectrum; picloram residual extends protection |

The Cut’n’Paste Advantage: No Spray, No Drift
With our signature gel formula, you target your weeds, not yourself or your neighbour’s property. There’s no spray and no risk of drift, ensuring the powerful herbicides go exactly where you want them and nowhere else.
As Easy As 1, 2, 3
Using Picloram PLUS is simple:
- CUT: Cut the weed down to about 50mm above the ground. For best results, apply the gel immediately after cutting.
- PASTE: Hold the bottle upside down and gently squeeze a layer of the gel onto the entire surface of the cut stem and some of the surrounding bark.
- GOODBYE: Wave your weeds goodbye as the gel gets to work, moving down into the root system to prevent regrowth.
