Gorse is gone

Kill Gorse with Cut'n'Paste Bamboo Buster Weed Gel

We recommend you use our Cut'n'Paste Bamboo Buster Weed Gel to kill Gorse. Simple cut near the base and paste the freshly cut stump immediately and they won't regrow. Picloram and Glimax gels will also work.

Gorse was introduced from Scotland for hedgerows! It got completely out of control and now it's a weed all throughout NZ, growing in horrid prickly dense patches and up to height of 3m. So easy to recognise and feel ! The seeds are explosive and spread for up to 20m. These beautiful rich yellow flowers give it away in the distance. Spraying doesn't work in the long run as you just end up with dry dead gorse which still spreads seeds and then the seeds regrow. And then, in a couple of years, you're back to square one.

The easiest way to identify gorse is to try to pick some with your bare hands. No mistake, it’s a prickly customer.

Cut as close to the ground as possible with a level horizontal cut and apply the gel thickly to the stump.  Work from the outside of the clump in and throw the slash behind you as you go.  Apply the gel immediately after cutting so you don’t miss any as the plants absorb as much as possible.
