About Us, at Cut’n’Paste Weed Gels. Andy Spence is the inventor of Cut’n’Paste Weed Gels.  Andy has a long history of environmental action as a Park Ranger for ARC and as biosecurity officer on Waiheke and previously at DoC in Wanganui.

Andy Spence has an Honours Degree in Zoology from Leeds University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education.

Andy spent 10 years teaching Secondary School Science in England and then ran his own business in England for four years employing up to 10 people, before emigrating to NZ in 1989.

At first, Andy worked for DoC for 7 years in Wanganui as the Taranaki Wanganui Conservation Board Executive Officer where he gained a good foundation in NZ conservation by working with Board members, organising inspections, writing reports, and working on the first Conservation Management Strategy. Before moving to Waiheke Island to take up the post of Senior Ranger at the newly established Whakanewha Regional Park which he took through to Park Opening in only 10 years.

Andy enjoyed working with the community to achieve outstanding results in a short period. Whakanewha, once a weed infested retired farm, is now one of Auckland’s examples of effective weed control. As the biosecurity office on Waiheke Island Andy learned in depth the problems that weeds cause and the solutions that are now the Cut’n’Paste Weed Gels.
